Happy New Year! - Ellensburg Bag Law Takes Effect Tommorrow

Happy New Year! And by the way. The Ellensburg bag law takes effect tomorrow. There will no doubt be some adjusting to do. After tomorrow, all plastic and paper bags will cost $.05 each, with some possible exemptions like not at restraunts, and not for vegetable bags.

There is an EBT exemption. When using your EBT, you are not supposed to be charged for bags. Supposedly, when you even "show" the EBT card, you are supposed to get that exemption.

However, it should be noted, that not all stores are going to honor that exemption! My sources have told me that some stores are only going to honor it when you pay with EBT. Circle K is one such provider.

Worse yet, some stores are not going to honor it at all. Bottom line, if you get a bag, expect to have to pay for it, making the life of the disabled another step harder especially if it effects you socially, such as some form of Autism.
